My Story – Where Heart, Hands, and Purpose Meet

Let me share a little about myself and the passion behind Earth Friendly Cocoons. From as far back as I can remember, I’ve always been a maker—a creator drawn to the beauty of nature, texture, and colour. That love of the natural world led me to work as a florist for 11 years, where I was immersed in the art of botanical design, crafting arrangements that spoke without words.

But it wasn’t until 2012 that something truly special unfolded. I discovered a way to bring together creativity, care - by crafting biodegradable cocoons for placentas and cremated ashes. What began as a quiet idea has grown into a heartfelt mission, helping families across New Zealand—and even further afield—farewell their loved ones with beauty, gentleness, and connection to the earth.

Each cocoon is lovingly handcrafted here in Hawke’s Bay, using natural, biodegradable materials. No two are ever quite the same. I believe every life, every moment, and every farewell deserves to be honoured in a way that’s personal and unique. Whether it's a placenta cocoon, a tribute for an angel baby, a beloved pet, or a baby’s, child’s or adult's ashes, each one is created with deep intention and respect.

Alongside this unique work, I’ve spent over 20 years as a Birth Educator, supporting, guiding, and empowering more than 5,500 parents through pregnancy, labour, and early parenting. It’s an incredible privilege to walk alongside families during both beginnings and goodbyes—two of life’s most powerful transitions.

This journey has taught me that there’s beauty to be found in every chapter, even the tender ones. Whether you’ve found your way here through grief, love, tradition, or curiosity—thank you.

It’s an honour to be part of your story.
